Beers Black is a small growing variety of fig. It has a similar growth habit to Violette de Bordeaux with similar characteristics. Have an area for a small fruit tree? This would be it. These trees are a grown from cuttings of tissue culture. They will grow like a normal tree and fruit normal. Expect figs in the second full season! You get the benefit of if a disease free tree that is healthy and ready to excel. It is a cold hardy variety and can be grown down to the zone 6. Optimal zones are 7-9. Beers Black produces two crops of figs. The early crop (breba) in July and the main crop in August-September. The figs are of Bordeaux Flavor which is fairly sweet berry flavor. The skin is almost black but typically dark purple. It is a very productive variety and does not require pollination. You will get one tree similar to the video. The roots will come wrapped damp. Get a head start on spring by planting in a 1 gallon pot and keep near a window or under a light. Roots will continue to grow . Plant in spring and it will take off!
