Mutante (Figs Art by Nikky)

Description

Mutante is a very ancient variety introduced by Nikki in Italy. So far it seems to be unifiera variety, late season and somewhat finicky the first few years. The skin is a brown color with a deep red interior that is rich and sweet. It continuously sets fruit starting in October. It is still setting figs now. As with many of the Italian varieties they can drop figs the first few years. I still would be fairly hesitant outside of wasp land even though it is likely a common variety.
