Description

Olympian Hardy Fig (Ficus carica) 2 Live TC Plant/Plug s- 4-8 inches

YOU WILL RECEIVE 2 SMALL TISSUE CULTURE PLANTS SIMILAR TO THE 2nd and 3rd pic.

The Olympian is incredibly cold tolerant, reportedly surviving down to zero degrees Fahrenheit, and growing back from the roots at colder temperatures. It is the most reliable producer of two large crops here in the often cool and mild Pacific Northwest, with its breba crop overwintering into the teens.

These trees are from a process called tissue culture. They remain free of any disease and will grow rapidly once you plant them. Some tissue culture varieties can be slow to produce. This one however will usually produce in its second year. I recommend keeping these in the shade for a few days then slowly acclimate to the sun. This variety is good for zones 6 to10. This variety gets up to about 15 foot high and 12 foot wide.

I am going to add a couple of bullet points below please read before purchasing:

1. Your new tree is very healthy and growing right now. Sometimes in shipping they will go into shock. What that means is that it may drop its leaves. If this happens do not be scared. Just keep giving it a bit of water and sun and it will send out new leaves.

2. When they are young you want to give them a good head start. I like to use half strength diluted miracle grow fertilizer. This is imperative to get your little tree growing fast so it can produce fruit quickly. This seems to be a good regimen for this type of tree.

3. These trees are ready to be potted into a bigger pot or put in the ground. They can become root bound quickly so if the tree droops quite a bit even with water it may need to be put into a larger pot.

4. These trees are free from the Fig mosaic virus. What that means is they will grow rapidly and have normal shaped leaves and dark green color.

5. If you decide to put your tree in the sun you may sunburn the leaves. That is OK as those leaves will drop and form new ones.

6. Due to the pandemic and delay in shipping do not be surprised if the leaves are yellowing. They will be without sunlight for 3 to 10 days or longer in some instances. The tree will not die. It may look like it’s going to but it’s not. When you receive your tree make sure to give it some water and keep it out of the sun for that day.

7. If your tree is dead on arrival which means it’s shriveled please reach out to me within 24 hours for a free replacement. Beyond the 24 hours I cannot guarantee any plant.

8. The care of the tree is fairly easy. Keep it out of direct sun the first few days then some sun each day after.

9. Enjoy those delicious
