Blueberry Plant Care Instructions
Upon Arrival
-
Open your package immediately.
-
Plants may appear stressed from shipping—this is normal.
-
Roots are wrapped damp to protect them during transit.
Potting
-
Plant immediately into a pot with well-draining, acidic soil.
-
Use a container with drainage holes.
-
Do not bury the crown—plant at the same depth it arrived.
Watering
-
Water thoroughly after planting.
-
Keep soil consistently moist, but never waterlogged.
-
Blueberries do not like to dry out completely.
Light
-
Place in partial sun at first (morning sun preferred).
-
After 7–10 days, gradually transition to full sun (6–8 hours).
Fertilizing
-
Do not fertilize for the first 2–3 weeks.
-
After establishment, use a fertilizer formulated for acid-loving plants.
Temperature & Stress
-
Some leaf drop or discoloration after shipping is normal.
-
New growth is the best indicator of success.
Long-Term Care
-
Blueberries prefer acidic soil (pH ~4.5–5.5).
-
Mulching helps retain moisture and regulate temperature.
-
Prune lightly during dormancy if needed.
Important Notes
-
Plants may take time to adjust after shipping.
-
Growth will accelerate once roots establish.
