Description
Summer Foliage Disclaimer
Our fig trees are grown outdoors under real world conditions, not in a controlled indoor grow room. During the heat of summer, it is completely normal for leaves to show cosmetic blemishes from environmental stress, fig bud mites, or mild expression of Fig Mosaic Virus (FMV). These issues are extremely common in outdoor grown fig trees and do not mean the plant is unhealthy.
Our focus is on growing strong, healthy, well rooted trees rather than producing flawless foliage. New growth often emerges much cleaner as the tree continues to grow and conditions improve.
If you are expecting perfect, blemish-free leaves in the middle of summer, our outdoor-grown trees may not meet those expectations. Cosmetic leaf imperfections are a normal part of growing figs outside, especially during periods of extreme heat. We believe healthy roots and vigorous growth are far more important than temporary leaf appearance. Hope this helps, Brian
Martinenca Rimada Fig MP Tree
Type: Common Fig (Does Not Require Pollination)
About This Variety
Martinenca Rimada is an extremely rare striped fig originating from Mallorca, Spain. Considered one of the most beautiful figs in the world, this remarkable variety is highly sought after by collectors for both its appearance and exceptional fruit quality.
The fruit begins with green and yellow striping but continues to change color as it ripens, displaying shades that can range across much of the color spectrum before eventually darkening significantly at full maturity. This unique color-changing characteristic is the result of a rare natural mutation that makes Martinenca Rimada unlike nearly any other fig variety.
Beyond its stunning appearance, Martinenca Rimada produces fruit with outstanding flavor. The figs are exceptionally sweet with a rich, complex berry flavor and a dense, jam-like texture that has earned this variety a devoted following among fig enthusiasts.
Martinenca Rimada is a later-season fig that produces a single main crop. The tree is vigorous, productive, and rewards growers with beautiful fruit that is every bit as impressive to eat as it is to look at.
Because of its rarity, striking appearance, and exceptional flavor, Martinenca Rimada remains one of the most desirable striped fig varieties available today.
The trees are similar to the pictures. They are shipped in 4 inch pots.
Recommended Growing Zones
USDA Zones 8-10
Don’t let the growing zones discourage you. Fig trees can be successfully grown in containers and many growers enjoy fresh figs well outside the recommended zones. Growing in a pot allows you to move the tree to a protected location during winter and control its size. With proper care and winter protection, many fig varieties can be grown and fruited outside their listed growing zones.
