Description
Cosme Manyo Fig Cutting
Type: Common Fig (Does Not Require Pollination)
About This Variety
Cosme Manyo is a rare and highly regarded fig variety originating from the island of Mallorca, Spain. This exceptional heirloom was rescued from a single forgotten tree and preserved through the efforts of renowned Mallorcan fig collector Montserrat Pons. Today, it is considered one of the standout varieties from the Balearic Islands and is prized by collectors for its outstanding flavor, productivity, and attractive fruit.
The tree is vigorous, productive, and develops dense foliage with a beautiful tropical appearance. Its large leaves, typically displaying one to three lobes with serrated edges, give the tree significant ornamental value while supporting heavy crops of premium fruit.
The fruit is medium to large in size, generally ranging from 38 to 50 grams. Figs develop an attractive greenish-yellow exterior that may display purple or burgundy blushes as they mature. The combination of colors gives the fruit an elegant appearance both on the tree and at harvest.
Inside, the fruit reveals a stunning deep red interior with thick, sticky flesh. The pulp is dense and richly textured, creating an exceptional eating experience when fully ripe.
Cosme Manyo is especially prized for its flavor. The flesh develops rich berry notes balanced by excellent sweetness, creating a complex and satisfying taste profile. The thick pulp and concentrated sugars contribute to what many growers consider one of the finest fresh-eating figs from Mallorca.
The variety is known for its excellent organoleptic qualities, meaning it excels in flavor, aroma, texture, and overall eating experience. It is primarily grown for fresh consumption, where its exceptional fruit quality can be fully appreciated.
The tree is highly productive and reliably sets fruit without pollination. Once established, it produces generous crops of high-quality figs year after year.
Cosme Manyo is also noted for its resistance to rain and its ability to maintain fruit quality under conditions that challenge many other premium varieties. The fruit typically ripens during the mid-to-late season, often from September through October in Mediterranean climates.
As a common fig, Cosme Manyo does not require pollination and reliably produces fruit in areas where the fig wasp is not present.
Its combination of Mallorcan heritage, rich berry flavor, beautiful red flesh, and excellent productivity has helped establish Cosme Manyo as one of the most desirable Balearic fig varieties available today.
For growers seeking a rare Spanish heirloom with exceptional flavor and collector appeal, Cosme Manyo is an outstanding addition to any collection.

Rooting Instructions
Rooting instructions are included in the listing photos. Please review them before purchasing.
Propagation Disclaimer
Rooting success depends on many factors including temperature, humidity, rooting method, growing medium, sanitation, and grower experience.
While fig cuttings are generally considered easy to propagate, no rooting success can be guaranteed. Even experienced growers may experience occasional losses.
Most growers can expect a rooting success rate of approximately 60% to 80% under proper conditions. Individual results may vary.
Because rooting conditions are beyond our control after delivery, we cannot offer refunds, replacements, or credits for cuttings that fail to root.
