During the heat of summer, it is completely normal for leaves to show cosmetic blemishes from environmental stress, fig bud mites, or mild expression of Fig Mosaic Virus (FMV). These issues are extremely common in outdoor grown fig trees and do not mean the plant is unhealthy.

Our focus is on growing strong, healthy, well rooted trees rather than producing flawless foliage. New growth often emerges much cleaner as the tree continues to grow and conditions improve.

If you are expecting perfect, blemish-free leaves in the middle of summer, our outdoor-grown trees may not meet those expectations. Cosmetic leaf imperfections are a normal part of growing figs outside, especially during periods of extreme heat. We believe healthy roots and vigorous growth are far more important than temporary leaf appearance. Teyip Demir “TD” Yellow Crinkle gets its name from its distinct yellow skin that crinkles as it dries on the tree. When fully ripe, the skin can also develop some purple blushing. The round fruits have a strong attachment to the tree, and their intense sweetness is concentrated when they are allowed to dry and form their signature crinkles. The figs grow to be medium-large and have a uniform, round shape. The pulp has a sweet berry flavor. TD Yellow Crinkle is a common variety, not requiring wasp pollination. Some growers note that this fig is best suited for dry climates.
