All the way from Pomona gardens in Puglia is one of Paolo’s most beloved figs. It is called “Mattepinta” and is ancient and known to be a favorite with the locals. This fig is drop dead amazing! Why??? Because it is semi sweet and juicy with a slight acidic bite at the end. It does not taste like your Black Madeira type or White Madeira type. It is very unique with only one other variety that is somewhat similar is “Igo” at Prusch Park. But that fig is below average. It is very prolific and good size 50-60grams. It has a skin that is thick with a small eye and has shipped very well for us. Unique in its own way.Does not require pollination. This is a very rare variety.
